8/19/2020

“I welcome the opportunity for a healthy debate with my Republican opponent”

Qasim Rashid, Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia’s First District will debate criminal justice policy and reform with his Republican opponent, Rob Wittman, at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy.

“At this moment in American history, constituents of  the 1st Congressional District must know where their candidates stand on these powerfully important issues surrounding policing, criminal justice policy, and reform” says Rashid. “Throughout my career as a human rights lawyer, and now as a candidate, I have been vocal about the need to protect every individual’s human rights and dignity, secure equal protection under the law, and reform our criminal justice system. I welcome the opportunity for a healthy debate with my Republican opponent, Congressman Rob Wittman on these crucial topics.”

“We’re grateful to the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy for generously offering their auditorium as a venue,” says Ayodele Okeowo, Campaign Manager. “Our team is looking forward to Thursday’s forum.”
