Qasim Rashid to Debate Republican Opponent on Criminal Justice

STAFFORD, VA - Qasim Rashid, Democratic candidate for Virginia’s First Congressional District will debate his Republican opponent, Rob Wittman, on Thursday, August 20 at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy in Fredericksburg. The candidates will be answering questions relating to criminal justice policy and reform.

“Our campaign is excited for this opportunity to share Qasim’s vision for public safety and criminal justice reform,” says Ayodele Okeowo, Campaign Manager. “Throughout his career as a human rights lawyer, and now as a candidate, Qasim has been vocal about the need to protect every individual’s human rights and dignity, secure equal protection under the law, and reform our criminal justice system..” 

“I believe that it is possible to increase public safety and community health while supporting law enforcement officers,” says Qasim Rashid. “At this moment in American history, constituents of  the First Congressional District must know where their candidates stand on these powerfully important issues. ”

The debate will be held at 7pm on Thursday, August 20. Masks and socially distancing will be required.
