Rashid Campaign Responds to Wittman’s Massive TV buy on Islamophobic Ads

9/22/2020

“Rob Wittman is paying top dollar to put ads up in a massive media market that could potentially cause great harm to Qasim and his young family,” says Grace Hagerty, Spokeswoman

STAFFORD, VA – Today at 12pm Qasim Rashid went on Facebook and Twitter live to address the nativist and islamophobic attack ads that Rob Wittman has been running in the D.C. television media market for roughly a week. The video is viewable on Youtube and on Facebook.

“I’m going to say the quiet part out loud. If Qasim Rashid was a white Christian with a name like John Doe, our opponent would not be tying him to terrorism,” says spokeswoman Grace Hagerty. “This is bigoted, racist, nativism – plain and simple. It’s dangerous and beyond the pale, and frankly beneath the elected office of US Congress. Rob Wittman is paying top dollar to put ads up in a massive media market that could potentially cause great harm to Qasim and his young family.”

“At a time when 200,000 Americans have died, our economy is in a recession, our small businesses are being destroyed, and we still don’t have reliable broadband, Wittman decides to resort to tired, outdated, and nativist Islamophobic attacks,” writes Rashid in a Medium post. “This is a cowardly excuse for avoiding the issues that impact people’s lives — and it’s not what our district or our nation deserve.”
