Qasim Rashid Recognizes Essential Workers on Labor Day

9/7/2020

“It is not lost on me or my campaign that the working people on the frontlines of this pandemic are for the most part people of color, immigrants, and women,” says Rashid

STAFFORD, VA – Today, Qasim Rashid, Democratic Candidate for VA-01, releases the following statement on today’s Labor Day holiday.

“On this Labor Day, I want to take an opportunity to thank and honor our incredible essential workers. Our teachers, eldercare givers, nurses, hospital workers, grocery store workers, meatpacking workers, and warehouse workers.

We are grateful for everything you do and the sacrifice you’re making during these challenging times. Our society would be unable to function without you.

It is not lost on me or my campaign that the working people on the frontlines of this pandemic are for the most part people of color, immigrants, and women. That’s why I’m fighting for economic justice. I’m fighting for a $15 minimum wage, for expanded healthcare, for stronger unions, and for high-speed broadband internet. I’m able to stand up for all of this because we’re funded by the people and we’re not taking corporate PAC money.

I believe that when working families win, we all win. Let’s get out and win on November 3rd.”

Rashid has been endorsed by IBEW local 26, the United Transit Union, the Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades Association, the Virginia Education Association, and the VA AFL-CIO.
