“From expanding health care and broadband access to tackling climate change, Qasim will deliver results for the people of Virginia’s 1st district.”
STAFFORD, VA – Today Former Presidential Candidate Julián Castro endorsed human rights lawyer Qasim Rashid, Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 1st District. Prior to his Presidential run, Castro was the youngest member of President Obama’s Cabinet, serving as the 16th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2014 to 2017. His campaign focused on combating the root causes of inequity in America. The endorsement was made under the leadership of People First Future, a political action committee Castro launched following his presidential campaign.
“I’m proud to endorse Qasim Rashid for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District” says Secretary Castro. “Qasim is the kind of bold, compassionate leader we need in Congress who will fight for working families and the most vulnerable Americans. From expanding health care and broadband access to tackling climate change, Qasim will deliver results for the people of Virginia’s 1st district.”
“I’m deeply honored by Secretary Castro’s endorsement,” said Rashid. “I admire Julián’s strong record of public service as well as his progressive and intersectional approach to policy. We’re proud of the incredible work Secretary Castro has done to serve our America’s working families and we are proud to accept this endorsement.”
